Alex:
The people in the colonies shared the same history, experience and hopes for the future. They were different from those of the people still living in Great Britain.
Samantha:
No! Look at the fighting between people for Trump and people against Trump.
Alex:
Well, the revolution created a national identity, didn’t it?
Samantha:
I don’t know what to say about how today’s situation doesn’t reflect the values behind the American Revolution.
Alex:
Yeah, what a shame. America is no longer a unified nation of people with a common goal.
Samantha:
I suppose so.
Alex:
And they had a common goal. But look at the United States now. Does the nation have a common goal today?
Samantha:
Ah! So, the colonists shared a sense of community!
